Over the years, I have written for newspapers and magazines in the Netherlands and Belgium, including de Volkskrant, Vrij Nederland and De Morgen, and internationally for outlets such as Quillette, UnHerd and Palladium Magazine.

In my interviews and long-form profiles, I have spoken with thinkers such as Francis Fukuyama, Peter Singer and James Lovelock. My essays have explored subjects ranging from the rise of the men’s movement to the potential of private education in developing countries. 

I began my career in journalism in the late 1990s. Before working freelance, I spent several years at the international magazine Ode (later The Intelligent Optimist), serving as Managing Editor in the San Francisco office and later as editor of the Dutch edition.

I am the author of several books on energy, technology and modernity, including The Power of Nuclear, which will appear in Italian and Spanish editions in 2026. I am currently writing a biography of Odette Keun, a writer and political commentator who witnessed revolutions and political upheaval during the turbulent years between the two world wars. 

I live in Rotterdam with my wife and three children.
